IDEX 2023: Saudi Arabia Showcases Defense Sector Opportunities

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) will lead the KSA Pavilion at IDEX 2023, one of the world’s leading defense shows, to expand the Kingdom’s global footprint and position it as a leading global defense player.

IDEX 2023 brings together the global defense community to share the latest trends, research, and capabilities that are shaping the sector’s future. The Saudi delegation will present global investors with a unique opportunity to connect with officials from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, World Defense Show (WDS), and 14 private sector operating in the Kingdom’s defense sector. GAMI will showcase exciting initiatives aimed at international investors

“After an active 2022 that took us to London, Dubai and Washington DC to meet with global investors, we are happy to kick off the new year here at IDEX 2023. Saudi Arabia is home to one of the most rapidly developing defense sectors in the world and we are keen to develop partnerships and promote international investment to continue to advance towards our goal of localizing more than 50% of defense expenditure by the year 2030,” said GAMI.

Led by GAMI, the impressive 3,142 Square Meter KSA Pavilion at IDEX 2023 follows a successful 2022 that saw GAMI expand its global footprint in major events such as Farnborough International Airshow and the Bahrain International Airshow, with both events attracting many of the sector’s top investors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). GAMI’s roadshows in the United Kingdom, South Korea, and the United States have also bolstered GAMI’s outreach efforts with global investors and defense executives.
As the defense sector’s enabler, GAMI’s reforms have led to an even more attractive business climate for investors seeking to become a part of the Kingdom’s journey of transformation. GAMI’s ambition to localize more than 50% of the Kingdom’s defense expenditure has led to a supply chain localization program identifying more than 70 investment opportunities across six defense domains within the Kingdom, worth billions of dollars.

Moreover, and for the first time in 2022, the Kingdom hosted World Defense Show (WDS) in Riyadh, attracting over 65,000 visits and $5.9 billion in signed deals during the conference. GAMI continues its outreach to global investors via roadshows, webinars, and summits.
