Constantine Law Boosts Employment Practice as Agile Firm Hires Third Employment Partner in Two Months

Constantine Law, the consultant-led “agile” employment and regulatory specialist law firm has recruited Eliza Nash to join the firm. The appointment takes Constantine Law to a headcount of twelve partners and a total of 17 fee earning staff – including nine specialist employment partners.

Eliza is chair of ELA’s pro bono committee and is a high-profile and high performing employment lawyer, with expertise across a broad range of employment issues, advising both employer clients and senior executives. She joins from Osborne and Wise, where she was a Partner, prior to which she was an associate with city firm Speechly Bircham, now Charles Russell Speechlys.

Eliza works regularly with HR directors and GCs across a variety of market sectors, including financial services, hospitality, recruitment and the media. She has an extremely strong track record in advising senior executives on their departures and is a skilled negotiator.

Eliza has developed a particular expertise in sex, maternity and race discrimination claims, including taking cases to tribunal and navigating the publicity and reputational aspects of high-profile claims. She recently successfully defended a widely publicised 15-day race/sex discrimination claim, which was subsequently cited in Practical Law Company.

She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) Management Committee and also volunteers on the ELIPS scheme, providing assistance to litigants in person.

Eliza joins a growing team of senior lawyers at Constantine Law and her appointment comes soon after the arrival of employment partners Neil Johnston, who joined the firm from Bolt Burdon at the end of May and Lucy Bloom, who joined from Osborne & Wise in July. Regulatory partner Emmeline Coerkamp also joined the firm from PCB Byrne earlier in the year.

Commenting on the new appointment, Managing Partner John Hayes said, “Our recruitment of high calibre lawyers such as Eliza, Neil and Lucy in just over two months, is a testament to our business model and the attractions of working for a progressive collegiate firm such as Constantine Law. We are without the fixed costs of many firms, and we don’t impose targets, so our solicitors have more freedom to develop their work in a way that suits them best. At the same time, we provide strong backup with a team of junior lawyers and strong support systems. This enables our partners to concentrate on winning and working for their clients.

In an age of flexible working, we are seeing this model as increasingly attractive to those working in the legal profession. We will continue to try and attract highly rated employment lawyers to boost our offering to clients and our reputation in the employment law field even further. We welcome Eliza to the practice.”

Eliza Nash commented, ‘I am extremely excited to be joining such a talented and growing team of senior employment lawyers.’
