Sidley Austin’s five-year deal will transform young lives

Global firm Sidley Austin is transforming young lives with its new five-year deal.

The firm is set to invest £500,000 over five years to help the YMCA build a youth hub at LandAid House in Islington. It will aim to reach at least 1,000 young people in its first five years and will positively impact the wider community for years to come.

Counselling, mental and physical health activities a sexual health clinic and a performing space are going to be provided at the youth hub.

Sidley volunteers will have the chance to take part in youth programmes, community events and mentorship for young people and also offer work experience at its London office.

Managing partner Thomas Thesing said: “The pandemic had a devastating impact on many and, as we emerge from it, it is evident that London’s younger generation needs greater support and guidance to help them thrive and grow in their local communities.

“This project will also allow our team to engage with those utilising the youth hub to provide career guidance and support, as well as exciting work experience opportunities at Sidley’s office.’

Robert Thompson, chairman of YMCA London City and North, said thousands of young lives will be changed thanks to the partnership.
