Harper James Strengthens Intellectual Property Team with New Appointment

Harper James, a full-service business law firm designed to support entrepreneurial businesses, has welcomed intellectual property expert Gosia Evans as a Senior Contentious Intellectual Property Solicitor, based in Cardiff.

With over 14 years of experience, Gosia specializes in all aspects of intellectual property law and commercial dispute resolution. Her expertise includes developing protection strategies and resolving disputes across various IP rights, including trademarks, copyright, design rights, patents, database rights, trade secrets, and domain names.

Before joining Harper James, Gosia led the contentious intellectual property department at the national firm Geldards LLP, where she advised a broad range of private, public sector clients, and charities.

Her appointment marks a period of rapid expansion for Harper James’ intellectual property team, which has more than doubled in size over the past year with key hires like Ben Evans (Head of Trade Marks), Jill Bainbridge (Head of Intellectual Property), Corinne Day (Trade Mark Solicitor), Nichola O’Driscoll (IP Solicitor), and Elizabeth Hickman (Contentious IP Solicitor). Gosia’s addition aligns with the firm’s ambitious goal to double its revenue within the next three years.

With the recent opening of a Cardiff office and Gosia’s appointment, Harper James has further solidified its presence in South Wales. Although the firm operates remotely to offer accessible legal advice at competitive rates, clients in Wales can also benefit from the growing number of local lawyers across various practice areas, including commercial law, property litigation, and employee share schemes.

Reflecting on her new role, Gosia stated:

“I’m thrilled to join Harper James, especially during this dynamic growth phase. The firm’s commitment to delivering high-quality advice to businesses at every stage aligns perfectly with my own values. Providing strategic intellectual property advice is crucial for businesses of all sizes, and I’m excited to help companies in Wales leverage our full-service IP offering with flexible pricing that caters to local needs.”

Jill Bainbridge, Partner and Head of Intellectual Property, added:

“We’re excited to have Gosia on board as we continue to grow our IP team. Her deep expertise and commercial approach will be invaluable as we expand our services and strengthen our presence in South Wales. Clients already appreciate her practical, business-focused advice, and we’re confident she will play a key role in our ongoing success.”
