HCR Law Welcomes Rachel Gwynne as Partner and Head of Charities

HCR Law proudly announces the appointment of Rachel Gwynne as Partner and Head of Charities and Not-for-Profit.

Bringing over 20 years of legal expertise, Rachel is widely recognised as a charity law specialist. Previously a Partner at a prominent UK law firm, she has been named a Next Generation Partner by the Legal 500 and an “Up and Coming” Partner in the 2025 Chambers and Partners rankings.

Rachel’s passion for the charity and not-for-profit sector extends beyond her professional role. She has held numerous trustee positions, including serving as a trustee of Cornerstone Charity for over 14 years, bringing a unique perspective, understanding both sides of the sector’s challenges and opportunities.

HCR’s Charities and Not-for-Profit team works with over 400 organisations across England and Wales and is recognised as a top-tier firm in the 2025 Legal 500. Rachel’s specialisms -including advising clients on governance issues, corporate restructuring, mergers, collaborative working arrangements and regulatory compliance – will complement HCR’s full-service offering in the Charity and Not-for-Profit sector.

Kristine Scott, Partner and Head of Cheltenham office, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel to the firm. Having spoken with several clients about her arrival, we look forward to introducing her in the coming weeks and months. Rachel’s extensive sector experience will provide our clients with leading expertise and advice, and I am excited to see her lead the Charities and Not-for-Profit team.”

Rachel Gwynne added: “HCR Law has a strong reputation across England and Wales in the Charities and Not-for-Profit sector. I am thrilled to join such an ambitious law firm, dedicated to delivering a client-focused service. I look forward to working with the team and supporting our clients.”

Rachel will be based in the firm’s Cheltenham office, supporting clients across England and Wales.
