WFW advises New Developments on floating offshore wind joint venture with GR Value

Watson Farley & Williams (‘WFW’) has advised New Developments on its joint venture with GR Value to develop the “Elymo” and “Apeneste” floating offshore wind projects.

“Elymo” is a 1020 MW floating offshore wind farm comprising 68 wind turbines in the Strait of Sicily, “Apeneste” a 915 MW floating offshore wind farm with 61 wind turbines l in the southern Adriatic Sea. Both projects are located within Italy’s maritime exclusive economic zone.

The two projects are currently undergoing a preliminary environmental assessment by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition (“MiTe”) and relevant harbour master’s offices.

New Developments is an Italian engineering company active in the renewable energy sector. Milan-based GR Value specialises in the development, construction, operation and management of renewable energy generation projects.

The WFW Italy Energy team that advised New Developments was led by Partner and WFW Italy Head Eugenio Tranchino, assisted by Senior Associate Cristina Betti and Associates Giovanni Benedetto, Francesco Vanzaghi and Sonia Basso. The team also helped New Developments prepare its scoping applications submitted to MiTe’s technical commission PNRR – the Integrated National Plan for Energy and Climate.
