A leading North West law firm is enhancing its client offering with a Head of Civil & Commercial Litigation lawyer.
Andrew Leakey joins Jackson Lees solicitors with 25 years’ experience in litigation and covers a broad scope of complex legal areas.
As part of his new role at Jackson Lees – which has offices across Liverpool, Manchester and Wirral – Andrew will deal with high value inheritance, contract and land disputes, assisting both businesses and individuals.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 1997, he received recognition from Legal 500, credited as “recommended for Consumer Credit Act matters” in 2011.
Over the course of his 25-year career, Andrew has had the opportunity to deal with ground-breaking cases in relation to unenforceable agreements, unfair relationships, hidden commission, irresponsible lending and negligence of brokers and has valuable experience of acting in group actions against major motor manufacturers.
He has also undertaken large numbers of cases in relation to housing, debt, and consumer issues, including professional negligence cases against valuers; solicitors and architects; faulty goods and building disputes.
He also specialises in land & probate disputes, helping clients resolve issues with land ownership and the administration of estates.
Andrew, who has been a go-to legal expert on television programmes such as This Morning, Channel 4 News and The One Show, said: “I’m very pleased to head up the Civil and Commercial Litigation team and join a firm which has such a high reputation..
“I enjoy dispute resolution as no two days are ever the same and I’m driven by assisting clients to provide solutions to what may seem an intractable problem – this is something I want to share with my colleagues through Jackson Lees’ fantastic training academy.
“I look forward to leading the team and implementing my previous two decades of experience in litigation to ensure we are offering the best service to our clients and getting the best possible outcomes for them.”
Andrew’s experience also includes lecturing across the country on challenges to consumer credit agreements, land law issues, and overcoming the perils and pitfalls of employment law.
Esther Leach, Managing Director at the Jackson Lees Group, said: “The whole team is thrilled to have Andrew on board and his vast experience will certainly help steer the Civil and Commercial Litigation department to achieve successful results for our clients.
“Andrew has achieved great success since qualifying as a lawyer and the fact that he has been called upon many times to share his insights into litigation pays testament to his skills and knowledge. We are confident he will be a real asset to the firm and encourage and inspire our junior lawyers to achieve similar.”
Andrew’s appointment follows the expansion of Jackson Lees, with the recent addition of John E Jones, its Head of Residential Property; and two new solicitors, Rafael Donovan and Barry McDonough in the Wills, Trust and Probate department.
