BonelliErede, with a team comprising Giuseppe Manzo (partner and member of the Energy & Ecological Transition Focus Team), Alessandro Rosi (senior counsel) and Elena Perera, Giulia Vannoni and Maximilian Denicolò (associates) assisted Golar LNG Limited with its bid in the public tender launched by Snam S.p.A. for the award of a contract for the sale of an LNG floating storage regasification unit. Pursuant to the contract, Golar LNG Limited will convert the existing LNG Carrier, Golar Arctic, into an FSRU that Snam S.p.A. will install in the port area of Portovesme, Sardinia, as part of a project to supply the island with energy. The contract has a value of 69 million euros, which includes the vessel and the capex for Golar LNG Limited to convert the Golar Arctic into an FSRU with storage capacity of up to 140,000 cubic metres. Following the full conversion of the vessel, the FSRU will be sold to the Snam Group.
The purchase of the FSRU is part of a project aimed at satisfying the energy needs of Sardinia through a “virtual pipeline” with the Panigaglia and OLT Regasification terminals, in La Spezia and Livorno respectively, and supporting the energy transition of the island.
