Manchester Law Firm Gathers 15,000 Claimants for Landmark Data Breach Lawsuit Against Microsoft and Google

A Manchester-based law firm, Barings Law, has amassed around 15,000 claimants for a significant data breach lawsuit targeting tech giants Microsoft and Google.

The firm initiated client sign-ups in November last year, aiming to hold the companies accountable for alleged violations of data misuse. Over 10,000 individuals joined the case within just a month, reflecting widespread concerns over the issue.

Barings Law’s investigation, spanning two years, reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting that large amounts of user data were used to train and develop language AI models. Alleged violations include the unauthorized collection of voice data, demographics, app usage, and personal details such as email content.

Barings Law has a track record of success in high-profile data breach cases, including the Capita cyber-attack and South Staffs Water hack.

Adnan Malik, Head of Data Protection at Barings Law, commented: “We are pleased to have accumulated such a vast number of sign-ups for this landmark case.”
