Lightfoots Solicitors, award-winning local law firm, support Thame to achieve its ‘Green Living Plan’

Lightfoots Solicitors, the award winning Thame law firm, are delighted to announce a new sponsorship joining the Thame Green Initiative partnership with 21st Century Thame and Thame Green Living.

Lightfoots Solicitors is Thame’s foremost law firm, established over 150 years ago, today they have four offices in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, working for clients across the UK. Their heritage and community-focused ethos give them a unique perspective on the challenges local businesses and other organisations are facing. They have three principal areas of service – for business, for lenders, and for life. Their values are based on conducting business to the highest ethical standards, encouraging a ‘we over me’ mentality, providing innovative solutions and delivering excellence in everything they do.

In 2020 the Thame Green Living Plan was adopted by the Thame Town Council.  Since then, although we have had a pandemic and lockdown, teams of volunteers from different community organisations have been working on a variety of projects to try to tackle environmental issues locally.  Recently there has been a move for the organisations to work more closely together and the Green Initiative was born.

The projects that have already taken place cover a variety of different aspects of environmental change and you can read all about these on the Thamegreenliving.org.uk and the 21stcenturythame.co.uk websites.

Since January 2022 we have been looking to increase the number of projects being undertaken and have grown the number of volunteers who are engaged with the plan to help complete the huge number of actions listed.

This funding provided by Lightfoots Solicitors allows the partnership of Thame Green Living and 21st Century Thame to continue to make good progress on projects such as :

  • 20mph throughout Thame and Moreton
  • Anti Idling and Air quality monitoring
  • Cycle Racks and encouraging Active Travel
  • Numerous Tree and hedging projects in and around Thame
  • The New Thame Repair café launching in a couple of weeks
  • Electric Vehicle Hire Club
  • Thame Drive Electric Event in September
  • LoveThameHateWaste – and trying to attain the status of Plastic Free Thame
  • Among others

Joe Middleton, Managing Partner of Lightfoots, said, “We are delighted to announce this association with this environmental partnership bringing together our award winning firm with 2 organisations who have recently received awards themselves as Climate Action Heros from the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire.    Lightfoots have been part of Thame’s history for over 150 years, with multiple generations of families both as clients and members of Lightfoots (Henry Ovens followed both his Father, John Ovens, and Grandfather, Charles Ovens, into the firm). Supporting our community is really important to us and being able to play a part in protecting and enhancing the quality of life in Thame for the next three generations, and beyond, is an honour.”
