Pierson Ferdinand LLP (“PierFerd”), a rapidly expanding law firm known for its dedication to client service excellence and innovative solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sima Kanan as a Partner.
Sima will join PierFerd’s Corporate Department in London, bringing over 20 years of experience in M&A transactions and corporate law. Her expertise focuses on investment funds and asset management, with a particular specialization in place-based investments. Prior to joining PierFerd, Sima was a Partner at international law firm gunnercooke LLP, where she spent three and a half years.
Throughout her career, Sima has provided expert counsel to energy sector clients, advising on the acquisition and disposal of infrastructure assets. She has also negotiated multi-party joint venture agreements for energy infrastructure projects and has supported start-ups, scale-ups, and institutional investors in the creation and restructuring of private equity funds. Her experience spans a wide array of asset classes, including infrastructure, real estate, and impact investing.
Before joining gunnercooke LLP, Sima was General Counsel for the Local Pensions Partnership Ltd – the national UK local government pension scheme services provider. Previously, she was an in-house Legal Counsel for several companies in the energy sector.

Sima holds a Master of Laws, with distinction, from the University of Dundee and a Bachelor of Laws, with honors, from the University of Manchester. She is an SRA-regulated solicitor, first admitted in 2005.
