Burges Salmon advises Michelmersh on the acquisition of FabSpeed

The firm has advised specialist brick manufacturer and long-standing client Michelmersh on its acquisition of leading brick fabricator and manufacturer, FabSpeed Holdings Ltd

Burges Salmon has advised Michelmersh Brick Holdings Plc on its acquisition of the UK’s largest independent brick fabricator, FabSpeed Holdings Ltd.

Established in 1997, Michelmersh has grown through acquisition and organic growth into a profitable and asset rich business, producing over 120 million clay bricks and pavers per year. Michelmersh currently owns most of the UK’s premium manufacturing brick brands and is a leading specification brick and clay paving manufacturer.

The deal will complement Michelmersh’s growing portfolio of premium products and services, increasing the company’s ability to optimise and grow its methods of construction product offering in support of its sustainability-centred ethos.

The enlarged group will also benefit from FabSpeed’s complementary customer base and distribution channels to offer a broader product portfolio and enhanced routes to market.

The Burges Salmon team advising on the deal was led by Corporate Finance partner Dominic Davis, alongside senior associate Bethan Penrhyn-Jones, associate Rebecca Brown, solicitor Ellen Robinson and trainee Isabel Rawlings.

Dominic Davis comments: “Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed working with Ryan, Frank, Peter and the wider Michelmersh team and helping to secure this important addition to the Michelmersh Group’s portfolio.”

Ryan Mahoney, Michelmersh’s chief financial officer, says: “FabSpeed is a great addition to the Michelmersh Group, enabling us to create a leading business in both clay and prefabricated products. Dominic and the broader Burges Salmon team provided invaluable legal expertise and advisory support throughout all stages of the process and the Board and the Executive team are hugely appreciative of their professionalism and diligence in helping us successfully close this important strategic acquisition of FabSpeed.”
